With Weeks and weeks of rain I was expecting a break at some point and my fingers were crossed it would be dry for our annual christmas lakes trip. as you can see from the photo below, we lucked out to some extent but we didn't let it stop us. we could have easily stayed in a nice warm pub but we waterproofed up and didn't regret it. In fact, it was so wet that I didn't even want to take my camera out with me. All of the photos below were taken with my phone.

 

Just outside of rosthwaite on the allerdale ramble. I've done so many sections of this path now, i must have done most of it.
a rather swollen and fast flowing river derwent. We had plenty of submerged path to negotiate.

Leaving the woods and following up beside Broadslack Gill. Some more submerged paths ahead added to the fun.
Wet but still happy. Why would you let rain stop you from being outside?
veered off the Allerdale Ramble and now making our attack on the Castle.
Spoil tip with an impressive path cut into it making what Is seen as an ugly pile of waste into something more interesting.
Is is a little interesting read on the people that repair the scree paths.

This very small mountain is packed with character. I regret not taking my main camera but it's a good excuse to go back soon.

Soaked but smiling on the summit of Castle Crag. I'm so happy that Noah was with us on this walk as he has wanted to visit this small mountain since he was very young.
