Red Brook and Kinder Low

Every now and then i take out some of the guys from the fire department for a hike. I work on a fire station where half of my crew are military personnel with a limited amount of time stationed in the uk . I like to show these guys some of the great countryside we have here.

On this day i chose a classic summit but via a not so popular route. the best thing about this route is how quiet it is. whenever i've summitted kinder scout this way i haven't seen more than 1 or 2 people throughout the ascent. not only is this route more secluded but it is also exciting and absolutely gorgeous!

This is where it starts to get fun. just follow the stream. not as easy as it sounds.

i find this section great fun. try stay as close to the water as possible. it really does make for some fun moments.

I honestly cant imagine climbing up onto kinder scout any other way from hayfield

taking the left side of the stream where it gets really interesting

sometimes trying to stay dry wasn't always easy.

there is always multiple options. you can make it easier or harder, which is what makes a good scramble route.
